A fascinating story using previously unseen lavish sepia photographs from the personal collection of Susannah Robson; the prominent Pontefract family lived at Northumberland House (now Home Bargains), this book illustrates their late Victorian/early Edwardian upper class lifestyle.

The family of maltsters were influential through business, the development of property and the town as a whole, politics, civic duties, and as wealthy local benefactors their legacy and family name lives on in Pontefract, even though the family line does not.
